Irvine Police arrest 42-year-old Yunlong Bai for a homicide that occurred at a residence on Red Apple in Irvine.
Yesterday at 1:00 p.m., an Orange County Probation Officer received a phone call from a probationer stating he killed his wife and would be waiting for police at his residence. The probation officer immediately notified the Irvine Police Department (IPD) and IPD dispatchers sent multiple officers to the residence with a Code 3 (lights and siren) emergency response.
Officers arrived at the home and located Bai and another male inside. They also located the female victim on the kitchen floor, who had signs of trauma and appeared to be deceased. The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) assisted and confirmed the woman had died. The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The victim was identified as 33-year-old Chao Chen. She had been married to Bai for 13 years. IPD detectives determined the second male in the home rented a room and was not involved in the homicide.
Bai was arrested for murder and transported to the Orange County Jail where he is being held on $1,130,000 bail.
