As part of the COVID-19 federal stimulus package passed by Congress in December, qualified residents can enroll in the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program, which offers discounts of $50-70 on your broadband service.
Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet purchased through a participating provider. Visit fcc.gov/broadbandbenefit to see if you qualify and for more information like which providers are participating in the program.
Additionally, as part of Cox internet provider services, the increased internet download speed introduced at the onset of COVID-19 for its low-cost internet package Connect2Compete is now permanent. The speed was temporarily increased from 25 to 50 Mbps in March 2020 to support families in greatest need. Connect2Compete is Cox’s low-cost internet solution for families with school-aged children who are enrolled in government financial assistance programs. Connect2Compete is designed to create digital equity for students and families that may have previously lacked internet access in their homes.
