Renovated Plaza Neighborhood Park Playground in Irvine Reopens to the Public

The City of Irvine is excited to announce the reopening of Plaza Neighborhood Park playground after undergoing renovations. Improvements to the neighborhood park include new playground equipment, signage, shade structures, and walkways. Construction began in summer 2020, and the park officially reopened May 20, 2021, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the Irvine City Council.

The newly renovated playground includes fun amenities paying tribute to the agricultural legacy of Irvine Ranch. It features a tractor slide, Farmers Market storefront, sand diggers, orange crate steps, and oversized play citrus trees and asparagus – the official City of Irvine vegetable.

“The City is happy to showcase our rich agricultural history through Plaza Neighborhood Park’s new playground,” said Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “Now, kids can enjoy playtime outdoors while learning more about Irvine’s roots in a fun, innovative way.”

Additional improvements made to the site include additional shade structures, new playground safety surfacing featuring an orange blossom theme, thematic concrete site work, improved park signage, new benches and barbecues, and improvements for ADA accessibility.

Plaza Park also features sports amenities including a batting cage and soccer field, barbecues, a picnic area with tables, a children’s area, and restrooms. It is located at 610 Paseo Westpark in Irvine.
