The Irvine Police Department (IPD) arrested 35-year-old Shallom Han for felony vandalism after he damaged multiple vehicles.
On Thursday, May 20, 2021, IPD officers responded to the parking structures at Park Plaza regarding damage to several vehicles. One of the damaged vehicles, with recording capabilities, captured a male using a sharp object to make deep scratches in the paint. Several other vehicles in the area sustained similar damage between May 19 and May 21, 2021.
Between May 21 and May 22, 2021, seven additional vehicles were vandalized at an apartment community at 2777 Alton. The male seen on video surveillance at Park Plaza was seen walking through the parking structure at 2777 Alton. The estimated damage to all vehicles is over $50,000.
Video surveillance of the suspect was shared on a social media platform and an alert member of the community called IPD after recognizing Han. Additionally, an IPD officer identified Han based on previous contacts with him. On Sunday, May 23, 2021, Han was arrested in the City of Costa Mesa with the assistance of the Costa Mesa Police Department.
Han, a resident of Irvine, was booked for felony vandalism and taken to Orange County Jail.
