The City of Irvine’s Financial Management & Strategic Planning Department received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020, from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“The City of Irvine is proud to receive this distinction for the 42nd consecutive year,” said Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “This ranking confirms City staff remain committed to ensuring full transparency to clearly communicate the City’s financial story. Highlighting financial reporting and motivating readership, is essential to this City Council.”

The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is the summarization of the City's financial activity for the previous fiscal year. The City of Irvine's fiscal year begins July 1 and ends June 30. In addition to reporting financial activity, the report also includes a summarization of significant milestones that were accomplished during the year by department, fiscal policies, and statistical information. The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is prepared by December of each year.
