The Irvine City Council approved a modification to the name of the Orange County Great Park at their meeting July 27. The action will drop “Orange County” from the park’s name, to be more reflective of the ownership of the park and its growing national appeal.
“The City of Irvine is a top destination that is home to multiple attractions, including Great Park,” said Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “We are proud of this state-of-the art amenity, which draws internationally-known artists, national sports teams and competitions, and visitors from across the country. The modified name better represents the City where it resides, and how this amenity is owned and operated.”
Updates reflecting the name of Great Park will be completed in a phased approach, utilizing existing resources responsibly to minimize the financial impacts of the modification. The new website address will be yourgreatpark.org, reflecting the universal appeal and broad use of Great Park. The park’s social media accounts will also be updated to @yourgreatpark.
