A two-year-old child has died after a collision involving a vehicle.
Last night, at approximately 8:05 p.m., the Irvine Police Department (IPD) and Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded to a reported traffic collision involving a child and a black Honda Odyssey. The collision occurred near the parking lot exit of the Cross Creek Apartments at 22 Creek Road.
The child was transported to a local hospital and died as a result of her injuries shortly after arrival. Her identity is not being released at this time.
Preliminarily, it appears the child was riding her scooter on the sidewalk, southbound on Creek Road, when the Honda struck her as the vehicle approached the exit. The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the collision.
IPD’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating this case. Anyone with information should contact Detective Roberto Solis at 949-724-7024.
