Fall Exhibitions Open November 16 at the Irvine Fine Arts Center

The Irvine Fine Arts Center is pleased to announce its fall exhibitions, End as Beginning and For Me and You. The exhibitions open Saturday, November 16, at the Irvine Fine Arts Center and include a free opening reception with the artists from 2 to 4 p.m.

In the Main Gallery, End as Beginning features sculptural and installation-based works by Randi Hokett, Zara Kuredjian, and Patricia Liverman that foreground rupture, perception, and time as dominant forces that shape our worlds and our understanding of ourselves within them.

Through their creative practices, Hokett, Kuredjian, and Liverman explore events and conditions where control and chaos coexist, such as volcanic eruptions, the alchemy of an artist’s studio, and the order of the cosmos. Their resulting paintings, sculptures, and mixed media artworks are both graceful and rough, delicate and intense, and evocative of things earthly and beyond.

For Me and You in Gallery One features multidisciplinary artworks by Ann Phong and Gloria Gem Sánchez that celebrate kinship and legacy and draw attention to our collective impact on the ecosystems we inhabit and pass on to future generations.

Phong and Sánchez use recycled materials, pigments and paints, and organic and unconventional objects to create sculptural and two-dimensional artworks informed by their experiences in their respective diasporas. Their independent art practices overlap in a shared ethos of environmental sustainability and commitment to honoring intergenerational experiences and knowledge.
The exhibitions will be on display through Saturday, January 25.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday. The opening reception, exhibitions, and parking are free. The Irvine Fine Arts Center is located in Heritage Community Park at 1432 Yale Ave. For more information, visit irvinefinearts.org or call 949-724-6880.
