Summer Fun Starts at Irvine Public Library with Free Activities and Events for All Ages

The Irvine Public Library is excited to announce the launch of Summer with the Library, a celebration of learning, reading, and discovery through free, library-led programs. The series offers a diverse mix of events and programming designed to spark a lifelong love of reading and support literacy for all ages.

Pop-Up Library & Summer Reading Program

Visit the Pop-Up Library at Heritage Community Park Sundays, June 8–July 13, 1–4 p.m., to browse books, get help from staff, and learn more about upcoming services. Plus, all ages can join the Online Summer Reading Program, July 9–31, and earn fun prizes just for reading.

Children’s Activities

Young readers are invited to explore a world of stories, songs, and smiles through engaging children’s events all summer long. From cozy Pajama Storytime sessions to sunny Storytime in the Park, there’s something magical for every learner. These free programs support early literacy and are a perfect way to make reading fun.

Teen Activities

Teens can take advantage of dedicated study spaces during finals with Study Hall sessions offered at community centers across Irvine. These quiet, supportive environments give students the focus and tools they need to succeed.

Multiple dates and locations across Irvine, including Las Lomas, Northwood, Heritage, and University Community Centers, through June 4.
Weekdays: 4–8 p.m.| Weekends: 1:30–4:30 p.m.

Adult Activities

This summer, adults can enjoy enriching book club gatherings that offer insightful reads, meaningful conversations, and a chance to build connections.

The City of Irvine is transitioning Library services from the County of Orange to a new Irvine Public Library system, allowing for a more personalized, local approach to library services. The County of Orange will close Heritage Park and University Park Library locations May 16. The branches have an anticipated opening date of August 4, under City of Irvine operation. Katie Wheeler Library will close July 1 and reopen in early 2026 under City operation.
