Recycle Your Dangerous Pesticides

Pesticides are among many household hazardous waste products that can be conveniently, and legally, recycled in Irvine. Do NOT throw away hazardous waste or dump down a house or outside drain!

Here’s how to recycle responsibly:

Household hazardous waste is considered leftover household products that contain corrosive, toxic, ignitable, or reactive ingredients, including pesticides, paints, cleaners, oils, and batteries. These items contain potentially hazardous ingredients that require special care when you dispose of them in order to avoid polluting the environment and possible health hazards to our children and others.

OC Waste & Recycling operates an Irvine collection center. The drop-off is free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is closed on holidays and rainy days. To confirm if the center is open, call 714-834-4000. The Irvine center is located at 6411 Oak Canyon, next to the City of Irvine bark park, Central Bark, just down the street from the Irvine Animal Care Center. MUST BE LESS THAN 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste per trip. For a complete list of household hazardous waste items, visit oclandfills.com.
