Scholarships for City Classes
The City of Irvine offers a scholarship program to help low-income Irvine residents participate in programs offered through the Community Services Department at a reduced rate. The program has limited funds available. Scholarships are granted on a first-come basis after applications are reviewed and approved. The program may be closed to new applications when funds run low.

Effective October 14, 2024, if you require in-person assistance with your application/renewal, please call or email to make an appointment.
Applications to renew current scholarships will be accepted two weeks prior to the expiration date. (Note: Scholarships are valid for one year from issue date.)
In order to submit an application, the following must be provided:
- Complete Federal Tax return for the most recent tax year. Only those individuals included on the tax return are eligible to apply for scholarship funds (a tax transcript is not applicable).
- Two most recent employment check stubs, less than 30 days old, for each working adult listed on the tax return if paid every two weeks; OR copies of the two most recent employment check stubs, less than 60 days old, for each working adult listed on the tax return if paid once per month;
- A W-2 for each working adult listed on the tax return. If self-employed, please provide Form 1099 or Schedule C.
- Proof of any other income/support received. Provide most recent award letter indicating monthly disbursement for child support, alimony, cash assistance, Social Security, disability, food assistance, or childcare assistance.
- If unemployed, provide the most recent unemployment benefit letter indicating weekly unemployment benefits.
- Proof of Irvine residency (most recent copy of gas or electric bill less than 30 days old). No water bills, cable bills, telephone bills, or school lunch letters will be accepted.
Further information may be required to complete your application. Without the above information, your application may be denied.
