Help, I've lost my cat!
After reviewing the links above and you believe that your lost pet may be at the Irvine Animal Care Center, call us at 949-724-7740 to get more information on reclaiming your pet. Fees may apply. Stray pets are held for a minimum of seven days before they are considered for adoption.
Here are some helpful tips to follow if your pet is lost:
-
Contact area shelters and rescues. Leave a description of your pet to be put in their files, and be as precise in your description as possible. File a lost animal report online:

-
Search for your pet! Walk, bike, or drive to the places your pet might have gone. Most lost pets are found within one quarter mile of their home. A lost pet who is scared may not be easy to find. Don’t be embarrassed to call out loudly for your pet. Be on the lookout for "found" signs while you’re out — you might see your pet on one of them.
-
Take fliers to local grocery stores, pet-supply stores, shelters, and vets’ offices.
-
Place a "lost" ad online using websites such as NextDoor, PawBoost, Craigslist, and Petfinder.
-
Go door to door in your neighborhood with a picture of your pet, and ask your neighbors whether they’ve seen your pet. Ask them to check their garages, sheds, or any other space where a lost pet could hide.
-
Don’t give up! The Irvine Animal Care Center has reunited pets with their owners after having been lost for almost six months. Keep looking.
Remember, an identification tag and a microchip are your pet's best chance of getting home safely.
