The City of Irvine is starting work on the next phase of demolition in the Northern Sector at the Great Park, which includes areas identified in the Great Park Framework Plan as the Great Meadow and North and South Lakes. This project will include the removal and lawful disposal of existing utilities within the project limits including, but not limited to, water, sewer, storm drain, electrical, and communications facilities. Work will include clearing and grubbing, excavation, backfill, stockpiling of concrete pipe, and the removal and lawful disposal of spoils if required.
HOURS & SCHEDULE
- Demolition work will occur between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekends and should not impact Great Park neighborhoods, motorists, or the use of the Great Park sports fields after school.
- Several additional steps are being taken to minimize the potential impacts and City staff will be at the site daily to monitor and mitigate any unexpected situations.
- Demolition and remediation is expected to begin in early March and last approximately five months.
