Celebrate National Park and Recreation Month with the City of Irvine

Thursday, July 11, 2024

The City of Irvine is celebrating National Park and Recreation Month with an exciting collectible card challenge. Throughout the month of July, residents are invited to collect 17 unique cards representing the City’s nationally ranked parks and facilities, with a bonus card available to residents who ride Irvine CONNECT. Participants who collect a total of eight cards can visit the Information Desk at Irvine City Hall beginning Monday, July 22, to receive an exclusive enamel pin.

The collectible card challenge provides an opportunity for residents to explore the individual amenities of parks and facilities throughout Irvine and how these intentionally designed spaces offer opportunities to create and celebrate community. The City will also honor Park and Recreation Professionals Day, Friday, July 19, to extend thanks to the dedicated staff who help make Irvine parks amazing, beautiful places to enjoy.

National Park and Recreation Month started in 1985 as an initiative of the National Park and Recreation Association, with the goal of raising awareness of the essential services provided by parks and recreation opportunities in communities across the country. July is also recognized at the state level by the California Park and Recreation Association as Parks Make Life Better Month.
