The community is invited to join Irvine Disaster Emergency Communications (IDEC) during the 2026 Field Day Saturday, June 27, from noon to 5 p.m. Portola Springs Community Center.
Field Day is an annual nationwide event, sponsored by the American Radio Relay League, showcasing amateur radio operations in a 24-hour contest and public demonstration.
Visitors can learn about IDEC, a volunteer organization of licensed amateur radio operators supporting the City of Irvine’s emergency preparedness response and general public safety.
Tour IDEC’s communications vehicle, see emergency communications in action, and even connect with ham radio operators worldwide. Scouts can also work toward their radio merit badge during the event.
