IRVINE, CA (September 2, 2015): City Manager Sean Joyce has appointed a new Director of Community Services. Laurie Hoffman begins work in Irvine on September 28.
Chosen from a nationwide recruitment, Hoffman most recently held the position of Director of Recreation, Marketing and Communication for the Fox Valley Park District in Aurora, Illinois, where she served 12 years in the second largest park district in Illinois with more than 233,000 residents. Fox Valley Park District contains aquatics centers, senior centers, a performing arts center, sports complexes including ball fields, soccer fields and tennis courts, and a four-court indoor athletic field house. The District is also home to natural resource centers, a nature park and historical farm museum.
“I am excited to have someone with the background and experience of Hoffman to meet the leadership needs of our outstanding Community Services Department,” said Joyce.
The department is responsible for an array of services and facilities for residents and visitors, including class registration, facility reservations, family and child services, animal care, athletic/aquatics, sports, leisure and the City’s fine arts complex.
Hoffman has more than 20 years of management and leadership experience in both the public and private sectors.
She has a master’s degree in Management from Aurora University and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Business Administration from Aurora College.
