Adults and children of all swimming abilities are invited to participate in the Super Swim Lesson, a worldwide effort to raise awareness for drowning prevention. Arrive at 5:30 p.m. to sign up for the one-time lesson to be held at 6 p.m., then stay for the free recreation swim that includes a water slide, giant inflatable and diving boards. At dusk, the movie Despicable Me 3 plays on the big screen.

Lifeguards will be on duty. For recreation swim, children 6 and younger must be accompanied by an adult one-on-one in the water. Ages 3+.

In order to participate in programs offered by the City of Irvine, participants and/or legal guardians agree to the following:

  • The City Council’s long-term goal is to PREVENT homelessness.
  • We continue to support preventive measures with our professional staff, with our partners, and importantly, with dedicated funds each and every fiscal year.  Here are examples:
    • The City Council approved $29.2 million from the state’s redevelopment settlement to the City of Irvine – and that is money, guaranteed over several years – that will go to the City’s affordable housing through the Irvine Community Land Trust. There are currently more than 4,000 affordable housing units throughout the City.

Those in need of housing – from low-income residents to homeless citizens countywide – may fit into several categories that often are not described properly or at all. For example, the City of Irvine’s longstanding practice to prevent homelessness means that, of the categories below, the City Council’s long-term efforts have been to provide “permanent affordable housing.”
