Sweet Shade Ability Center

Sweet Shade Ability Center is located inside Sweet Shade Neighborhood Park and is home of City of Irvine's Disability Services. The center features a multipurpose room, kitchen, courtyard, garden, and Irvine’s first universal playground with many accessible and sensory features. Sweet Shade Ability Center provides Disability Services programs to the community during the week and is available for public reservations on Saturdays. View details about rentable spaces below. 

Programs

The City of Irvine offers a variety of activities for individuals with sensory, physical, or cognitive disabilities, and their family members at Sweet Shade Ability Center​. Available Facility Reservations

MULTIPURPOSE ROOM

Sweet Shade Ability Center's 1,500-square-foot multipurpose room features linoleum floor and can accommodate banquet, classroom, and theater-style seating. The room is adjacent to both an outdoor courtyard and garden, and includes access to a kitchen area featuring a sink, small counter space, and refrigerator. There is no add-on fee for access to the kitchen. Room capacity ranges from approximately 50–80 attendees, depending on setup. 

 

Courtyard

Sweet Shade Ability Center's outdoor courtyard is accessible through the multipurpose room. Use of the courtyard is available with a reservation of the multipurpose room for an add-on fee. Maximum capacity is 20 people.

Policies & Fees

The City of Irvine Community Services Reservation Policy is established to ensure that the use of City facilities and parks aligns with City values, provides fair access to all users, remains fair priced, operates in a fiscally responsible manner, and supports a safe and sustainable community.

The Community Facilities Reservation Policy and Community Facility Fees will detail the category rates and permit hours for each site, and identify additional fees for events requiring alcohol service, filming, or equipment rentals.
