Join us on Saturday, Sept. 23, 3:30-4:30 p.m., for an artist talk by All Media 2017 guest juror Kim Abeles. The esteemed multidisciplinary artist will discuss her artistic practice, career, and her experience of being a working artist. Before the talk, be sure to visit Abeles’ solo exhibition at the Orange Coast College Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavilion in Costa Mesa, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Since the rise of Western abstract painting in the mid-20th century to the development of today’s contemporary art, female abstract artists have often been overlooked. In collaboration with curator Suzanne Walsh, Painting in the Abstract: Women Inspired by the Masters explores the impact and diversity of women in the Southern California art scene while showcasing how they are challenging the medium and echoing the legacies of the mid-century female masters.
