Interested in becoming a volunteer at the Irvine Fine Arts Center?

Year-round volunteer opportunities at the Irvine Fine Arts Center support Open Studio Programs. We look for individuals with significant experience and knowledge in one of the following: Ceramics, Darkroom Photography, Jewelry, and Printmaking. Those interested should be available to provide a minimum time commitment of 8 hours per month, for one year. Volunteers in the studios must be 18 years or older.

The Printmaking Studio is equipped for traditional printmaking techniques. Various etching presses, including a 36 x 72 in. manual Ettan press, outfit the studio and allow for print techniques and processes such as intaglio, relief, collagraph, and monoprint.

A UV exposure unit for alternative photo and printmaking processes is also available. Reservation required.

Whether you have a passion for letterpress or affection for relief, let our modest studio accommodate your creative appetite with this century old tradition!

The Photography Lab is equipped with a group and private darkroom. The group darkroom includes complete black and white tray setup capable of printing up to 16’’x 20’’ paper and enlargers that accommodate 35mm, 120mm, and 4x5 inch negatives.  
 
The Private darkroom is equipped with an Ilford Multigrade 500s enlarger head and control system on an Omega Type D enlarger chassis. Complete black and white tray setup capable of printing up to 20’’x 24’’ paper. Enlarger accommodates 35mm,120, and 4x5 negatives. 
 

The Jewelry Studio is equipped with jewelry casting and fabricating equipment including casting centrifuge, burnout ovens, torches, hydraulic press, polishing and finishing machines. Jewelry Open Studio includes participants actively working in three areas – casting, enameling, and fabrication. The Open Studio Refresher class covers studio etiquette, safe usage and practices with IFAC equipment. NOTE: Successful completion of the Jewelry Refresher class and quiz does not include Casting Certification.
