Montara Sagebrush

A drought-tolerant, evergreen shrub native to coastal California. It's admired for its aromatic foliage and its adaptability to dry, sandy soils, often used in landscaping for its silvery-gray appearance and resistance to harsh conditions.

Appearance

Foliage: The leaves are narrow, deeply lobed, and covered in fine, silvery-white hairs, giving them a soft, grayish-green hue. The aromatic scent is released when the foliage is crushed, which is characteristic of many Artemisia species.

Flowers: Small, yellowish flowers appear in late summer to fall, though they are not particularly showy compared to the foliage.
