In November 2024 the City of Irvine unveiled the addition of an electric street sweepers to its fleet.
A 2024 Dulevo D-Zero Plus sweeper known as "Evie" will be used to clean:
- Trails
- Bikeways
- Parking lots
The electric street sweeper reaches top speeds of 20 mph.
Benefits
Using an electric street sweeper as opposed to gas will save approximately 18 metric tons of carbon emissions over a year — the equivalent of taking 4.2 gas-powered vehicles off City streets. Making the switch to electric will help our City achieve the ambitious emissions reduction goals outlined in our Climate Action and Adaptation Plan.
The City is looking into switching our four traditional gas-powered sweepers to electric sweepers in the future.
