Jamboree & Michelson Pedestrian Bridge

The Jamboree & Michelson Pedestrian Bridge project within the City of Irvine will enhance pedestrian safety, relieve traffic congestion, and serve as a gateway monument for anyone entering the Irvine Business Complex.

The 175-foot-long bridge, which will span Jamboree Road, will feature the following: 

  • Structural Stainless Steel
  • Elevators
  • Glass Curtain Walls
  • Glass Safety Railing
  • Lock Up Devices
  • Corian Cladding (Complex Façade)
  • Geometrically Complex Cladding Frame Nodes (3D Printed, Cast, or Welded)
  • Timber (Black Locust) Deck Panels
  • Color Changing Lighting

As part of the City’s efforts to enhance sustainable mobility, the bridge will include stairs with a bike runnel to make it easy for cyclists to safely navigate the intersection. In addition, the bridge will have energy-efficient, cable-supported elevators.

Construction Updates

Construction begins Monday, June 23. Temporary lane closures in both directions of Jamboree Road and Michelson Drive will be in place while work is being done weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Access to area residences and businesses will be maintained. 

Phase 1 of the project will continue through October. The entire project is anticipated to be complete in summer 2027.
