In celebration of Arbor Day, the City of Irvine is launching two programs that invite the community to grow and strengthen the urban forest –– the Sponsor a Tree Program and a Residential Tree Giveaway in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation.
Beginning today, April 21, the Sponsor a Tree program offers residents, families, and organizations a meaningful way to contribute to Irvine’s green spaces. For $400, participants can fund the planting of trees in parks and other public areas, helping expand the City’s tree canopy while creating lasting tributes.
The program provides an opportunity to honor loved ones, recognize milestones, or celebrate special occasions, all while supporting Irvine’s environmental goals and enhancing shared community spaces. Interested individuals can complete the Tree Sponsorship form and explore the
interactive map, where available trees and sponsored trees — along with dedication messages — are displayed.
Also launching today, the Residential Tree Giveaway Program — offered in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation — will provide free trees to qualifying Irvine residents for planting on their private property. The program is designed to increase neighborhood tree canopy coverage and encourage sustainable landscaping practices at home.
Residents who participate will be able to reserve pre-approved, climate-appropriate tree species and receive guidance to support successful planting and long-term care. Learn more about the program and how to reserve a tree.
