Construction and Demolition Waste Reduction
Builders, contractors, architects and engineers can all work together to reduce the amount of waste produced by construction and demolition. By keeping the Zero Waste mentality in mind during planning, projects can generate smaller amounts of waste and increase the amount of materials that can be recycled.
Visit the Construction and Demolition Materials page to learn how you can recycle C&D materials.
Green Building
Building “green” is also part of a Zero Waste approach. Buildings have the potential to generate a lot of waste from construction and demolition (C&D) materials. With awareness and planning, these materials can be diverted from the landfill. The City of Irvine Environmental Programs offers a comprehensive Green Building Program that promotes environmentally sensitive, energy conscious and healthier developments.
