Earth Day 2024 is April 22, and this year marks the 54th anniversary of this celebration. This year's theme is Planet vs. Plastics, highlighting a commitment to end plastics for the sake of human and planetary health.
The City of Irvine is hosting a variety of community events all month long in honor of Earth Day.
Induction Cooking Workshop
Wednesday, April 3, 6–7:30 p.m.
Irvine Fine Arts Center, 14321 Yale Ave.
The City of Irvine will be hosting a spring induction cooking workshop featuring local award-winning chef Katie Chin, who will demonstrate how to make various ethnically diverse dishes on an all-electric induction cooktop. The workshop will also include a discussion on the benefits of switching from a gas range to an all-electric.

Celebrate Earth Day at Quail Hill
Open Space Celebration
Saturday, April 13, 9 a.m.
Quail Hill Trailhead, 34 Shady Canyon Drive
Please join the City of Irvine, Irvine Ranch Conservancy, and Irvine Company for an open space celebration on Saturday, April 13, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Quail Hill Trailhead. Guests will be treated to a free pancake breakfast, family-fun activities, and a hike of the 1.8-mile Quail Hill Loop Trail. The guided hike will begin at 10:30 a.m. and is family-friendly, but please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.

Guided hikes of Quail Hill, led by Irvine Ranch Conservancy, will be offered at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Registration is required on-site, with limited space available.
Solarize Irvine Presentation
Learn about going solar with Solarize Irvine at 11:45 a.m. This program, in partnership with OC Goes Solar, helps Irvine residents who are interested in going solar.
Compost Demo
See a compost demonstration at 12:30 p.m.
Used Oil Filter Exchange
Saturday, April 27, 8 a.m.–2 p.m.
O'Reilly Auto Center, 15315 Culver Drive, Suite 170
Bring in your used oil filter and exchange it for a new one. One filter per person. Please drain the oil filter for at least 24 hours.
