Join exhibiting artist Joseph Paul Gerges for an Artist Talk and Book Signing on Saturday, March 9, 3–5 p.m., at the Irvine Fine Arts Center. Joseph Paul Gerges' prints explore mortality, vulnerability, loss, and survival. The exhibit, Joseph Paul Gerges: QUIETUS, runs through Saturday, March 30 in the Main Gallery. Admission and parking are free.

Join the Great Park for the opening of our latest exhibition, The Art of Competition, on Sunday, March 3, 1–3 p.m. The Art of Competition is an exhibition that illustrates different facets of professional sports, from the venues and stadiums to the individual teams and players themselves.

Weekends are for family and fun. Bring a picnic and enjoy a day at the park. Great Park staff provides lawn games, board games, and other activities to kick-start your weekend. Activities will be held next to the Visitors Center.

The City of Irvine will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony in the Formal Garden. Attendees can memorialize our troops' sacrifice by writing down a brief remembrance to be posted on a memory board at the event. Cards will be available for well-wishers to send a message of appreciation and support to members of Irvine's adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion. For more information, call 949-724-6606.

Memorial Day is a time of remembrance for Americans to honor those who have given their lives while defending our nation. In partnership with Northwood Memorial Committee, a special candle lighting ceremony will be held at Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial and will include presentations by Gold Star families. Improvements Underway at Turtle Rock

Construction is underway at the Turtle Rock Community Center and Nature Center to improve accessibility to these popular sites. The project began in January and is expected to continue through May.

Guests of all ages can enjoy skating at Great Park Ice during its daily public skating sessions on both NHL and Olympic sized ice surfaces. The facility has more than 1,000 pairs of professionally maintained ice hockey and figure skates available for rent, along with skate mates for new skaters or skaters who may need a little extra assistance on the rink.
