Overview

  • If your project meets the following criteria, you will be able to submit your application through the Automated Online Permit system: 
    • like-for-like replacement
    • replacement water heater or A/C unit will be in the same location as the original water heater or A/C unit
  • If your project does not meet the above criteria (for example, if the new unit will be installed in a new location), click here

  • Structural calculations will be required
  • There are height limits for walls in residential areas, typically a maximum seven feet in height within required setback areas. Refer to the Zoning Guidance below
  • Administrative Relief is required for fences over seven feet in height that are proposed within a required setback area. Contact the Planning Counter at planning@cityofirvine.org or 949-724-6308 for more information
