Why Volunteer?
Volunteering is a great way to support your library and give back to your community. Your help makes a big difference in providing important services for both children and adults. Plus, you’ll pick up valuable skills and experience that can benefit you both personally and professionally. If you are a student, it is also a great opportunity to earn school service credit and build your resume.
Who Can Volunteer?
High school students ages 14 and over, as well as adults 18 and over, who have an interest in libraries and books, care about their community, or enjoy helping others are encouraged to volunteer.
What Can A Volunteer Do?
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities:
Teens
- Teen Advisory Group
- The Teen Advisory Group (TAG) is for teens looking to make a difference in their library. Members meet monthly during the school year to work on service projects and provide feedback to library staff on future teen programming, resources, and books.
- Teens will make new friends while building leadership and communication skills. TAG membership also qualifies as community service and looks great on a resumé. Each library location has a maximum of 20 Teen Advisory Group memberships available.
- Program Assistance
- High school teens ages 14-17: assist library staff with craft activity preparation for a variety of library programs for children, teens, or adults.
- Toy Cleaning
- High school teens ages 14-17: assist library staff with sanitizing and organizing Stay & Play toys for toddlers and children.
