Grab your swimsuit, floatie, and family, and come on down to the pool for a movie. Swim and float while Moana plays on the big screen.

Lifeguards will be on duty. An adult must accompany children 6 and younger one-on-one if they are in the water during the movie. Pool opens at 6:30 p.m.; movie starts at dusk. Recreation swim fee is $2 per child and $4 per adult. Pay at the pool.

Kick off summer in the pool with the Irvine Super Swim Lesson. Adults and children of all swimming abilities are invited to participate in Irvine’s largest group swim lesson in an effort to raise awareness for drowning prevention.

Arrive at 5:30 p.m. to sign up for the one-time lesson to be held at 6 p.m., then stay for the free recreation swim that includes a water slide, giant inflatable, diving boards, and activities. At dusk, Encanto plays on the big screen. Lifeguards will be on duty.

The Irvine Animal Care Center invites the community to its 16th annual Super Pet Adoption event Sunday, June 5, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Advance ticket purchase is required.

Super Pet Adoption will feature:

  • Gourmet food trucks and bake sale
  • Opportunity drawings
  • Vendors and services for pets and their humans
  • As well as hundreds of adoptable dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and more.

Admission: $5 per person (kids 13 and younger are free)

The Irvine Fine Arts Center hosts the 28th annual Studio Arts Festival. The juried festival will showcase Southern California artists and their original works of art in ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, painting, photography, fiber,woodworking, and glass. This year’s festival will be held entirely outdoors in Heritage Community Park. Support local artists and enjoy a day at the park. Admission and parking are free.

The City of Irvine will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony in the Formal Garden. A Commanding Officer from Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion will speak to pay tribute to our military fallen. Attendees will have the opportunity to memorialize our troops’ sacrifice by writing down a brief remembrance to be posted on a memory board at the event. Cards will also be available for well-wishers to send a message of appreciation and support to members of Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion. For more information, call 949-724-6606. 

 

The City of Irvine, in partnership with the Northwood Memorial Committee, will hold a special candle lighting ceremony at the Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial. To honor our military fallen, we are pleased to feature guest speakers Jim and Carla Hogan, Gold Star parents of Lance Corporal Donald J.
