The Irvine Ranch Conservancy was established in 2005. It is a non-profit, non-advocacy organization, created to help care for the 50,000 acres of permanently protected wildlands and parks on the historic Irvine Ranch. The organization works with the City of Irvine to enhance the public appreciation, understanding and connection to the land, while helping other land owners and managers with all aspects of stewardship. The Conservancy contributes its resources, expertise and energy to achieve the best possible balance of preservation and public participation.
Since its incorporation in 1971, Irvine has had a strong desire to balance development and the natural environment. As this incredible master-planned community has grown, each phase of development has been accompanied by the preservation and enhancement of natural open spaces, creating a network of parks, trails and wildlands that residents and visitors may enjoy today and for generations to come.
The City partners with Irvine Ranch Conservancy, a non-profit, non-advocacy organization, to manage and provide public access to the Irvine Open Space Preserve. The Conservancy offers nature enthusiasts a wide variety of free self-guided and docent-led outdoor programs including hiking, mountain biking, equestrian, interpretive, stewardship and much more.
