The City of Irvine Youth Action Team invites the community to take part in the Pickup 50 Challenge, a Citywide littering campaign beginning April 7 to promote and expand cleanup efforts throughout Irvine. Participants are asked to go out into their community, pick up 50 pieces of trash, and then challenge their friends and family to do the same.
On January 26, 2021, the Irvine City Council passed the resolution reaffirming Irvine's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the Irvine community and created the five-member Ad-Hoc DEI Committee to provide input on the needs of the community and advise the City Council in meeting its goals. In January 2022, the Irvine City Council directed the Ad-Hoc Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee to become a standing committee and expand its membership to seven committee members.
In honor of the City's 50th Anniversary in 2021, we invited residents, businesses, and visitors to participate in our 50th Anniversary Photo Contest, which captured the essence of Irvine — our neighborhoods and residents, open space, history, and events. The City received nearly 500 submissions from community members sharing their favorite photos representing culture and community, historical Irvine, the outdoors, and pets — as well as entries to a special category for budding photographers ages 17 and younger.
