Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is a great way to support your library and give back to your community. Your help makes a big difference in providing important services for both children and adults. Plus, you’ll pick up valuable skills and experience that can benefit you both personally and professionally. If you are a student, it is also a great opportunity to earn school service credit and build your resume.

Irvine residents can receive up to three pre-packaged bags (20 pounds per bag) of free compost. Compost will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is supported by Tierra Verde Industries and Orange County Waste and Recycling.

Grab your swimsuit, friends, and family, and head to William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center for a fun-filled evening in the pool and a screening of Shrek. Lifeguards will be on duty. Pool opens at 6:30 p.m. Shrek starts at 7:15 p.m.

Families can bring floaties to the event and exchange them for a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket through the City’s Floatie Exchange program, an initiative supporting ongoing efforts to ensure a water-safe summer. Life jackets are available for children ages 6 and younger while supplies last.

The City of Irvine, in partnership with South Coast Chinese Cultural Center, will gather the community for the fourth annual Mid-Autumn Festival at the Great Park Friday, September 26, from 5 to 9:30 p.m.

Explore unique cultural displays and discover valuable resources provided by local community organizations. This family-friendly festival will feature educational displays, live entertainment, crafts, specialty food trucks, artistic demonstrations, and more.
