Trees

The City of Irvine’s Urban Forestry Program is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing one of the community’s most valued assets—its trees. With more than 60,000 City-maintained trees across streets, parks, and public spaces, the program ensures that Irvine’s urban forest remains safe, healthy, and sustainable for generations to come.

A team of five ISA Certified Arborists oversees and plans all tree maintenance, including a proactive four-year pruning cycle, a comprehensive tree health care program, integrated pest management, and the replacement and planting of climate-adapted species that support Irvine’s long-term canopy goals. Contracted tree maintenance crews use specialized equipment and best-management practices to protect both trees and surrounding infrastructure while preserving tree structure and minimizing impacts on the landscape.

Beyond maintenance, the Urban Forestry Program reflects the City’s broader commitment to environmental stewardship, public safety, and community beauty. By caring for our trees, we not only provide shade, cleaner air, and habitat for wildlife, but also enhance the quality of life in every Irvine neighborhood.
