Urban Forest Master Plan

The City of Irvine’s Urban Forest Master Plan (UFMP) provides a long-term framework to enhance, protect, and sustain the City’s urban forest. Trees are a valued community asset that contribute to Irvine’s character, support environmental health, and improve quality of life.

Adopted by the Irvine City Council in October 2025, the Plan builds on Irvine’s strong foundation of tree canopy and establishes a goal of achieving 30% Citywide canopy coverage by 2055 through coordinated planting, preservation, and management efforts.

The Urban Forest Master Plan emphasizes:

  • Strategic expansion of the urban tree canopy
  • Preservation and maintenance of existing trees
  • Collaboration with residents, businesses, and community partners

Through thoughtful planning and continued investment, Irvine is committed to maintaining a healthy, resilient urban forest for current and future generations.
